The Sentinel Annual Short Story Competition 2015 is now
accepting entries. Now in its 3rd year, previous winners
include Alison Bouhmid and Clare Marsh. Judge is Alex
Keegan.
Details: This competition is for original, previously
unpublished short stories in English Language on any
subject, in any style, up to 2000 words long (excluding
title). Stories entered should not be under consideration or
accepted for publication elsewhere.
Eligibility: Writers of all ages, gender, and
nationality living in any part of the world are eligible to
enter.
First Prize: £700
Second Prize: £350
Third Prize: £175
High Commendation: £55 x 5
Commendation: Publication only
First Publication: All prize winners and commended
authors will receive first publication in Sentinel Literary
Quarterly magazine (online)
Entry Fees: £6/1, £11/2, £15/3, £18/4 and £20/5

Rules
All entries to this competition must be received by midnight
31st January 2016.
The stories in this competition will be judged blind. Please
do not type your name or any identifying marks on any
of your pages.
Ensure that the title of your story on the page matches the
title in your Entry Form or Cover Note.
Winners and commended authors will be notified by e-mail or
post within 7 days of the announcement of the results.
To receive a copy of the results, please enclose an s.a.e.
marked ‘SASC 2015 Results.'
Stories cannot be returned, please do not send your only
copy.
No changes to entries will be accepted more than 48 hours
after submission.
We discourage simultaneous submissions. If you enter your
story in this competition while awaiting result of another
competition in which it has been entered and suddenly learn
the story has won a prize and you write us to withdraw the
story, we will take it out of the competition but regret we
will not refund your entry fee.
If you win one of the prizes in this year's competition, you
will NOT be prohibited from entering next year's
competition.
If on the advice of the judge, the quality of entries is too
low to produce worthy prize winners, or any other legitimate
reason beyond our control arises which may affect a fair
completion or conduct of the competition, we reserve the
right to cancel the competition and refund all entry fees
immediately by the same method we have been paid.
We reserve the right to reapportion the prize money if
necessary in the interest of continuity as an alternative to
cancellation of the competition.
By entering this competition you provide some information
such as your address and e-mail address which may be deemed
personal information. These will be processed according to
the data protection acts1998 and 2002. We will never pass on
any detail you provide in the course of entering this
competition to a third party and we will never sell your
data to anyone for marketing purposes.
When you enter this competition we suggest that you
subscribe free of charge to our newsletter so that we may
contact you by e-mail with the results of the competition,
the adjudicator’s reports and information on future
competitions. This is optional and you may unsubscribe from
the newsletter at any time.
Copyright to all stories submitted will remain with the
authors but the Sentinel Poetry Movement may seek the first
publication rights to all winning and commended stories.
Please only submit your own original work.
The adjudicator’s decision will be final and no
correspondence can be entered into.
The submission of stories for the Prize will be taken as
indicating acceptance of the above conditions.
