Welcome to Sentinel
Literary Quarterly (October 2008). This marks the
amalgamation of Sentinel Poetry (Online) and
Sentinel Literary Quarterly into a single quarterly
online publication.
The last time there
was any publication from Sentinel Poetry Movement
was on March 2008. It has taken me this long to get
the publication back and with a clearer sense of
direction.
This publication
officially marks the end of Sentinel Poetry (Online)
magazine which we published between December 2002
and March 2008. Sentinel Literary Quarterly which we
also originally conceived as essentially a print
magazine with an online presence is for the
foreseeable future to remain only an online
publication and shall henceforth be the only
magazine published by Sentinel Poetry Movement.
I would like to show
my sincere appreciation to sentinel readers who kept
faith with Sentinel and have continued to visit the
website and send messages of support. Those close to
me also have understood why it has been near
impossible for me to focus on these publications
this year - though it has been a year of blessing
following the birth of my daughter, Nwachi, but it
has also been a year in which my 80-year-old mother
has now been in and out of ICU for over 10 months,
and also a year in which my only uterine sister lost
her battle against diabetes. The sombre tone of this
slim volume of our magazine is in honour and memory
of my sister Ngozi "The Wind" Ezeobi (1956 - 2008)
who was only buried this month.
That personal note out
of the way, it is back to business as usual at
Sentinel. Between now and the 6th anniversary of the
founding of Sentinel I shall be re-energising all
facets of the movement and our website.
Once again, thank you
very much. Enjoy.
