ANA/Esiaba Irobi Prize
for Drama – Call for Entries
The
Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) announces the
establishment of the ANA/Esiaba Irobi prize for Drama in
recognition of Esiaba Irobi's contributions to our culture
as a whole, and especially, the indelible mark that he left
on our stage. Olu Oguibe (www.camwood.org)
and The Oguibe Family Foundation have established a merit
award to be known as the Esiaba Irobi Prize for Drama
which will be administered by the ANA.
The Esiaba Irobi Prize for Drama shall be awarded annually
for an outstanding original script written for the stage or
screen by an emerging Nigerian writer, that is, one who is
in their early-to-mid career. The winning work must be
full-length, and may be recently published, that is, no
earlier than the year preceding the award, or unpublished.
On the strength of the above, the ANA calls for entries,
(six copies) from dramatists to be sent to: The General
Secretary, Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), C/o Dr
Jerry Agada, Chairman, National Board for Colleges of
Education, NCCE House, Opposite Akwa Ibom House, Central
Area, Abuja. Entries must reach the General Secretary, on or
before Tuesday, 31st August, 2010.
The winner who will be announced by the ANA panel of judges,
at the ANA 29th International Annual Convention which will
hold in Akure, Ondo State, will win a cash award of
N50,000 (Fifty-thousand Naira) and a certificate of
recognition signed and issued by the Association of
Nigerian Authors (ANA).
