ANA/Esiaba Irobi Prize for Drama – Call for Entries

The Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) announces the establishment of the ANA/Esiaba Irobi prize for Drama in recognition of Esiaba Irobi's contributions to our culture as a whole, and especially, the indelible mark that he left on our stage. Olu Oguibe (www.camwood.org) and The Oguibe Family Foundation have established a merit award to be known as the Esiaba Irobi Prize for Drama which will be administered by the ANA.

The Esiaba Irobi Prize for Drama shall be awarded annually for an outstanding original script written for the stage or screen by an emerging Nigerian writer, that is, one who is in their early-to-mid career. The winning work must be full-length, and may be recently published, that is, no earlier than the year preceding the award, or unpublished.

On the strength of the above, the ANA calls for entries, (six copies) from dramatists to be sent to: The General Secretary, Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), C/o Dr Jerry Agada, Chairman, National Board for Colleges of Education, NCCE House, Opposite Akwa Ibom House, Central Area, Abuja. Entries must reach the General Secretary, on or before Tuesday, 31st August, 2010.

The winner who will be announced by the ANA panel of judges, at the ANA 29th International Annual Convention which will hold in Akure, Ondo State, will win a cash award of N50,000 (Fifty-thousand Naira) and a certificate of recognition signed and issued by the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA).

Signed:
HYACINTH OBUNSEH
NATIONAL GENERAL SECRETARY (ANA)
28th July, 2010.
