ANGELA FRASER

Invocation

Come, O child of mine, come
I hope your time is soon to claim
the love I have saved for you
learn things I want you to know
and share a mentality I have groomed.

Come, O child of mine, come
for as I mature in body and mind I fear
a replacement of this unique mentality
with a lack of imagination and the loss
of wise words vaulted in my grey cabinet.

Meet me, O child of mine, meet me
the warmth of my bosom and laughter
of my heart are all for your comfort
until you are ready to begin
the next stage of your journey with me.

Find your way, child, find your way
before I continue this cycle
before I exhume the ghosts
of wrongs I endured yesterday
to foul up tomorrow's air.

Find your way, child, find your way
whilst today's lessons are yet significant
and relevant to our mutual ticket
into a tomorrow where self-worth smiles
and hopes are fruited by unbreakable love.

Come, O child of mine, find your way
before I become my mother.
