Her

Heavy burdens bear down
Like loads accompanying refugees
As they stay stranded waiting to be airlifted
And like a cursed adulterer
Afflicted with swollen balls
and giant instrument of sin
A zero situation gets bleak
In the deep crevices of my heart
Between the frozen spaces
Where love abides but has abdicated
The glassy pool of steered longings shatter
And beneath,
Accumulated desires defrost in festo-seconds
But on the erected barricades
Of unreturned affection
Fresh woods are nailed to crossbars.

As the cold harmattan gale whispers
with much persistence
Through the haze it permits
Her nimble feature appears
To mock the cold garments of love
Worn by the recalcitrant moon
As her glow dims
Yet in the stillness of the sober night
In its calculated resolve after a bad hangover
When the masquerades have long retired
To welcoming convenience of ant holes
I light firecrackers
Askew in brilliant hue of soulful piety
And mourn a love, long lost
