JAMES SCOTT

A SUNDAY

burning of incense
hard oak pew
rosary in hand
a priest that speaks
to few

blisters on my feet
shoes a size too small
pants are riding high
grandma whispers
I'm way too tall

as guilt and fear
builds up
the words of
untruths are spoken

I seek out
the virgin mary
to mend the heart
that's broken.
