MAURICE OLIVER Five Poems
Venus Poses
Yellow apples on a rug. Like white spots on dominoes. Drops into an imaginary paradise. With an urge to talk dirty. The story unfolds. A nylon noon kneeling entwined human splosh. Flower finger hands that surround. Speech chemistry petals that curve upward.
Never Mindshaft
A reality fuelled by pranks. Cookies arranged in a circle. In fractions shaved yellow. An alphabet sharpens its senses. Learning to read. Spelling bee. Nightshade white glove a fly. Lumps. Licks. A swan named Myrtle. Chambermaid prizefighter two kinds of gone.
