GETTING INTO A PILE OF BOOKS

Got lost in a pile of books
searching for old dictionaries
kept finding
collections of science fiction
forgot were here.
Enjoyed finding
books forgotten
spent rest of day
and most that night rereading
stories,
dictionaries forgotten.

Having had fun
time returned
to find those old
books of words
somewhere near bottom
of pile
at least
dust starts thinning out
that far down.

Didn't have any word
in mind just
wanted to dig through
the dictionary
looking at definitions
and etymologies.

Some times days are filled
with me sitting in a chair
with dictionary in lap
searching for definitions.
So when be seeming chance
some word's pulled
out
and discussion turns
to what does it mean
I'll just pull it out
from the piles of twisted trivia
that haunt every recess of
mind.
