Ode To A Wayward Child

Used to think I captured you
In the crazy midnight blue
Yet tragically you were not an illusion
Into many lives made your wonderful intrusion
Decided to change the pace
Carved out your own time and space
Sex, money, drugs and a form of rock and roll
Wanted all that you'd behold
Self-sufficiency made you seem bold
'Til one day you turned COLD
Once precious juvenile
Out there running wild
Clearly blind without direction
How painful my infection
Could not, would not savor my instruction
Tried to save you from self-destruction
But you were so out there
That you're gone
Never to bring you home
I cry.
