Die Finger schon im Abschied
schreibt sie in seinem Schweiß
die alten Worte

wärmt sich noch so lange an seinem Fieber

bis sie endlich ihre traurige Hand
ihm sanft in die überhitzte Brust schiebt
dreht und in den Schlaf pflegt


Fingers already in the parting
she's writing the old words
into his sweat

warms herself at his fever

until finally she pushes her sad hand
into his hot breast, tenderly
turns it and caresses him into sleep
