DIKE OKORO

WHEN IT IS ALL OVER

After you have raped
Our virgin skies
To declare our totem eagle
A suppressing thought,

After you have broken
The sacred egg to
Blind us with shells evicting
Echoes of wasted passion,

What gain have you to yr reign,
Now that our grieving hills
Are consoled by silence,

O marauders of our Forefathers'
Sacred temples.
